A Day in the Life of a College Volleyball Student
7:00 AM
Get up, have breakfast, and head to the gym for your morning practice. These sessions are usually scheduled early to ensure everyone on the team can participate without any class conflicts.
9:00 AM
After practice, attend your classes on campus. Throughout the day, you’ll have a mix of lectures, discussions, and group projects – just like any other university student. After the morning classes, grab lunch with your teammates or classmates in the campus dining hall. This is a great time to catch up with friends. After the lunch break, attend your afternoon classes.
3:00 PM
Return to the training facility for a practice session in the court. After practice, you might have additional recovery activities such as stretching, rehab, or ice baths.
6:00 PM
Enjoy a nutritious dinner after the last practice to refuel. Afterwards, dedicate some time to studying, working on assignments, or preparing for upcoming exams. Once schoolwork is done, don’t forget to relax a bit and spend time with friends. Get to bed at a reasonable hour to ensure you’re well-rested for the next day!
When you have matches, your routine changes. Away matches might be in another city or even a different state, meaning early departures and long travel days. You’ll be on the road with your team, playing multiple matches over the week.
It’s a busy time that requires balancing your study schedule with performing at your best as a player. Managing travel, competitions, and academic work is key to staying at the top of your game as a student-athlete!
