What is College Esports?
College esports is where students compete in esport at university level. With outstanding support, facilities, and coaching, college sports programmes in America provide gaming scholarships to help you grow and develop as a player.
As an esports student at university in the USA, you become part of the university’s own esports team. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to dedicate time to gaming while securing a bachelor’s degree. During your time as an esports student-athlete, you gain access to resources and support to enhance your esports skills.
Unlike other college sports in America, college esports scholarships are specific to individual games. Today, there are colleges with esports in their college sports programmes. For instance, you will find Rocket League scholarships, Valorant scholarships, and League of Legends scholarships.
What Does an Esport Scholarship Cover?
An esports scholarship is a financial grant awarded by the university’s coach that can cover the costs of attending university totally or partially. With esports scholarships for gamers, you receive assistance in covering some or all of your expenses. This includes both the costs of studying at university in the USA and those related to your gaming!
A full scholarship, or full-ride, covers all the costs, including tuition, accommodation, meals, insurance, and other academic fees. Partial scholarships cover a percentage of these expenses. College esports scholarships also include the costs of gaming gear, tournament entry fees and travel to competitions.
Unlike other college sports, esports scholarships are awarded for individual games. For instance, there are scholarships for Rocket League, Valorant, and League of Legends, among others.
